Safety & Security

Because your peace of mind is non-negotiable.

We believe the best childcare starts with the safest environment. Here’s how we protect every child every day.

Secure Keypad Entry

All classrooms and exterior doors require a unique parent PIN. Visitors must be buzzed in and sign the visitor log. No exceptions.

Background-Checked Staff

Every employee undergoes Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and FBI fingerprint background checks before their first day.

Daily Health Checks

Lead teachers perform a visual wellness check at drop-off and document symptoms. Children with fever or contagious illness must stay home 24 hours after symptoms resolve.

Nut-Free Campus

Sunflower is a completely nut-free facility. Our kitchen and all snacks are peanut and tree-nut free to protect children with severe allergies.

Licensed Fire & Safety

Annual inspections by the Nashville Fire Marshal. Monthly fire drills, quarterly lockdown drills, and CPR-certified staff in every classroom.

Brightwheel Daily Reports

Photos, meals, naps, diaper changes, and notes — delivered to your phone in real time throughout the day. You’re never left wondering.

★★★★★

“After touring five daycares in Nashville, Sunflower was the only one where my daughter ran through the door without hesitation. Ms. Yuki remembered every detail from our tour visit and had a cot already labeled. The daily Brightwheel updates have completely eliminated my drop-off anxiety.”

★★★★★

“Our son has made more developmental progress in 4 months at Sunflower than the previous 6 months at our last center. His vocabulary literally doubled. Mr. Tomás sends photos every single day and my son talks about his teachers at dinner every night.”

★★★★★

“We were terrified about Ms. Patricia’s sick-child policy at first. But once we understood it was protecting ALL the kids — including ours — we became believers. The community this place has built among families is something we didn’t expect and now can’t imagine living without.”

★★★★★

“My daughter started Pre-K at Sunflower not knowing her letters and left reading simple sentences. Her kindergarten teacher asked me what preschool she attended. I can’t thank Ms. Brianna enough. Worth every penny and then some.”

FAQ

What Nashville parents ask first.

What is your staff-to-child ratio?

Ratios are 4:1 for infants, 5:1 for toddlers, 8:1 for Preschool Prep, and 10:1 for Pre-K — all at or better than Tennessee TDHS requirements. We believe smaller groups produce better outcomes.

Do you accept childcare subsidies or vouchers?

Yes. We accept CCAP (Child Care Assistance Program), Tennessee childcare vouchers, and employer-sponsored Dependent Care FSA funds. Contact us to verify current availability before enrollment.

What is your sick child policy?

Children must be fever-free (below 100.4°F), vomit-free, and diarrhea-free for 24 hours without medication before returning. We know this is hard — but it’s how we keep your healthy child from getting sick.

How do you handle food allergies?

Sunflower is a completely nut-free campus. For other allergies, we maintain an allergy action plan signed by a physician and communicate with parents daily. Our kitchen team is allergy-trained.

What curriculum do you use?

Our curriculum is Reggio-inspired and project-based, meaning children’s own questions and interests guide learning. We layer in intentional pre-literacy, pre-math, and social-emotional skill-building within child-led play.

How do you communicate with parents?

We use Brightwheel for real-time photo updates, daily reports (meals, naps, diapers, activities), and secure two-way messaging. We also hold twice-yearly parent-teacher conferences.

What are your drop-off and pickup hours?

Doors open at 6:30am and close at 6:30pm Monday through Friday. A late pickup fee of $5/minute applies after 6:30pm to respect our teachers’ time.

Is there a waiting list?

Infant spots have the highest demand with an average 3–8 week wait. Toddler, Preschool Prep, and Pre-K often have openings. Submit an inquiry and we’ll tell you exactly where things stand.

Give your child the best start.
